merit order an inquisition or cause the judgment to be extended
as in other cases of interlocutory judgments, or as upon a judg-
ment by default.

Crimes and Punishments.

ENTICING TO ENLIST IN ANOTHER STATE.

Chapter 123 adds the following section to this Article:

SEC. 1. Any person who shall entice, persuade, enlist or hold
out any inducement to any resident or citizen of this State to
enlist, or to leave the State for the purpose of enlisting in any
of the United States, as a part of the quota of said State in the
armies of the United States, under the acts of Congress, or the
calls of the President heretofore or hereafter to be made, such
"person so offending shall, on conviction thereof in any Circuit
Court of any of the counties of this State, or Criminal Court of
the city of Baltimore, be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and
be punished by a fine of not less than twenty nor more than five
hundred dollars, at the discretion of the court. '

In force from March 14, 1864.

LARCENY.

Chapter 50 adds the following section to this Article:

2. Any person convicted in the Criminal Court of Baltimore,
of larceny committed in. Baltimore city, to an amount under
five dollars, may, in the discretion of the Judge of the said
court, be sentenced to hard labor in the jail of Baltimore city
for not less than six months, nor more than two years, instead
of the penitentiary.
