58 PRIVATE ACTS—CHARTERS.
METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH.
AN ACT to incorporate Trustees for the benefit of the Methodist Episcopal Church
on Kent Circuit, and to receive a conveyance of real estate.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Thomas Baker, Joshua Clark, William W. Parks, John N. Usil-
ton, Joseph A. Harper, Henry Bramble and James Kendall, of Kent
county, and their successors, be and they are hereby incorporated and
made a body politic, by the name and title of " Trustees for the benefit
of the Methodist Episcopal Church on Kent Circuit, " and, by that
name, shall have the right and capacity to receive and take, from
Samuel E. Baker and wife, a deed or conveyance of a quantity of wood-
land in Kent county, not exceeding ten acres, with rights of way to and
from the same, and with rights and privileges of using springs, branches,
waters appurtenant to or within the same, for Camp Meeting and Sun-
day School purposes and uses, and for the general uses and purposes of
the Methodist Episcopal Church on Kent Circuit; and that, by their
said corporate name, they may sue and be sued, plead and be im-
pleaded, in any of the courts of this State, and may make by-laws and
regulations for the government and enjoyment of said land and premises,
rights, ways and privileges.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all vacancies that may occur in the
said Board of Trustees may be filled by elections to be made by the
survivors, whether such vacancies arise from death, removal, resigna-
tion, or ceasing to be a member of the said church.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said land, after such convey-
ance, shall be free from taxation, State, county and school tax; and
that this act shall take effect from its passage.
MERCHANTS' MUTUAL, INSURANCE COMPANY OF BALTIMORE.
AN ACT supplementary to an act entitled, An act to Incorporate the Merchants'
Mutual Insurance Company of Baltimore.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the said Merchants' Mutual Insurance Company of Baltimore shall
have power to increase the number of the Directors to twenty-five, to be
elected In the manner set forth in the act of incorporation aforesaid.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That said Company shall have power to
fund as a permanent capital stock, the amount for which certificates of
profits have been issued, under sections fifteen, sixteen, and seventeen of
the act of incorporation aforesaid, and shall have power to increase the
same by subscriptions, or by reservation of profits, to the sum of five
hundred thousand dollars, to be divided into shares of fifty dollars each.
