50 PRIVATE ACTS — CHARTERS.

dred and two, in the place of R. S. Stewart, Benjamin G. Howard,
Richard Potts, Washington Duvall and Cathell Humphreys, the Com-
missioners named in said act of eighteen hundred and fifty-two; and
the said R. S. Stewart, Benjamin C. Howard, Richard Potts, Washing-
ton Duvall and Cathell Humphreys, be and they are hereby directed to
hand over to such persons as may be appointed by the Governor, all
books, papers, accounts, moneys and other property in their hands for
the purposes of said trust, whenever application shall be made therefor
by their successors.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, This act to take effect from the date of
its passage.

HOME MISSIONARY SOCIETY.

AN ACT to incorporate the Home Missionary Society of the Maryland Annual Con-
ference, of the Methodist Protestant Church.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Eli Henkle, Daniel E. Reese, Josiah Varden, George D. Hamil-
ton, John W. Everist, Reuben T. Boyd, Dr. Francis Waters, James K.
Nicols, John Elderdice, John R. Nicols, Washington Roby and Dr. A.
S. Eversole, and all the ministers and laymen belonging to the Mary-
land Annual Conference of the Methodist Protestant church, or who
may become members hereafter of the said Maryland Annual Confer-
ence, and all persons who may become members of this incorporation,
in compliance with the constitution and by-laws, as may be adopted by
this incorporation, be and they are hereby constituted a body politic
and corporate, by the name and style of the Home Missionary Society
of the Maryland Annual Conference of the Methodist Protestant
church, and by that name, for the purposes hereinafter mentioned, may
have perpetual succession and be able and capable to sue and be sued,
plead and be impleaded, answer and be answered unto, and issue all
legal process in any court of law or equity, or before any judge, officer,
or other person or persons whatever, within the State of Maryland or
elsewhere, having legal jurisdiction, to have a common seal, and the
same at pleasure to alter, break or renew, and to do all acts necessary
and lawful for carrying into effect the object of this incorporation.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That for the purpose of sending and
supporting Ministers of the Gospel as Home Missionaries, within the
bounds of the Maryland Annual Conference of the Methodist Protest-
ant church, the Home Missionary Society of said Conference incorpo-
rated, by this act, is hereby made able and capable in law, to have, hold,
purchase, receive, possess, enjoy and retain to them and their successors,
any estate or interest whatever in lands, chattels, annuities, rents, bank
stock, registered debts, public or private securities, or other real or per-
sonal property, within or without the State, by deed, assignment, devise,
