ELECTIONS.
The Act of 1862, ch. 4, adds the following section to this article:
SEC. 1. The place of holding elections in the tenth election
district of Allegany county shall hereafter be at the house at
present occupied by William Waltz, on the Northwestern
Turnpike.
JUSTICES OP THE PEACE AND CONSTABLES.
The Act of 1862, ch. 259, repeals section 95, and substitutes the following:
2. Every constable in Allegany county, shall receive in addi-
tion to the fifty cents allowed by law, for delivering to the sheriff
any person on commitment, five cents per mile each way, going
and returning, for every mile he may have to travel, over four
miles, and in addition shall be allowed the actual traveling ex-
penses of each prisoner, the said expenses to be returned to the
county commissioners under oath.
NATIONAL ROAD.
The Act of 1862, ch. 176, repeals sections 107, 108 and 111 of this Article, and substi-
tutes the following:
3. The Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the
Senate, shall biennially appoint a superintendent of that part of
the national road lying within the State of Maryland, who shall,
during his continuance in office, reside in Allegany county, and
who shall have the care and control of said road, and shall re-
ceive a salary of two hundred dollars per annum, to be paid out
of the tolls of the road.
