away all monies that he shall be directed to receive and pay
away by the ordinances of the commissioners.

19. All elections shall be held and conducted as shall from
time to. time be directed by the by-laws of the corporation,, not
inconsistent with this charter..

20. The burgess shall qualify as 'directed by section six of
article sixty-eight of the code; the commissioners and all other
officers of said corporation, before entering upon the duties of
their respective offices, shall, before the burgess, take and sub-
scribe the, following, oath.: "I do solemnly swear that I will
faithfully execute the office of ——— to the best of my knowledge
and ability, without favor, affection or partiality, so help me God. "

21. The burgess and commissioners of said town may meet as
often as occasion may require, upon the business of the corpo-
ration, at which meetings the burgess shall preside;, they may
appoint a clerk and. assign his duties, and allow him such com-
pensation for his services as they may think proper..

22. The clerk shall enter all ordinances passed by the- burgess
and commissioners, and signed by the burgess, in, a book to be
kept by him for that purpose, and they shall at all times be open,
to the inspection of any person interested, and copies of all ordi-
nances shall be put up in the most public places in said town.

23. They may appoint annually a collector of taxes in said
town, and if any person so appointed shall refuse to. act, become
disqualified, resign or remove from said town, may appoint
another in his place; and in case of the absence or other inability
of the collector, the burgess may direct any precept by him
issued to any constable, residing in said town., who shall serve
and return the same in the same manner as process issued by a
justice of the peace.

24. The collector shall give bond, with sufficient security, to
the burgess and commissioners, for the true and faithful per-
formance of his duties; and such bond shall, be liable as con-
stables bonds are by law.
