342. Whenever the services of any policeman so appointed as afore-
said shall no longer be required, a notice in writing to that effect shall be
given by the corporation or corporations at whose instance he was appointed,
and such notice shall be filed in the clerk's office where the commission
and oath or affirmation of such policeman shall have been recorded, which
notice shall be noted by such clerk upon the margin of the record where
such commission and oath or affirmation are recorded, and thereupon the
power of such policeman shall cease and be determined.

343. The provisions of the aforegoing Sections 337 to 342, inclusive,
of this Article shall be extended to and may be availed of by any corpora-
tion, firm or individual maintaining or operating in this State any factory,
warehouse, storage house, manufactory, printing or publishing establish-
ment, mechanical or mercantile establishment, or any plant of any kind,
or any mine, colliery or quarry, or any electric railway, water, sewerage,
gas, electric light, power, transmission, heating, refrigerating, telephone,
telegraph or other public service property or properties; and all the pro-
visions of the said sections, including those which relate to the appoint-
ment, commissioning, oath, authority, powers, compensation and termina-
tion of service of the policemen referred to in said sections, shall in all
respects be applicable to policemen appointed for any of the corporations,
firms or individuals mentioned in this section; provided, that any such
corporation, firms or individual shall be liable for the wrongful or negli-
gent act of any such policeman.

344. This sub-title shall be known as the "public service commission
law," and shall apply to the public services herein described and to the
commission hereby created and to the public service corporations and
persons herein mentioned and referred to.
The term "commission," when used in this sub-title, means the public
service commission hereby created.
The term "commissioner," when used in this sub-title, means one of
the members of such commission.
The term "corporation," when used in this sub-title, includes a corpora-
tion, company, association and joint stock company or association.
The term "person," when used in this sub-title, includes an individual
and a firm or copartnership.
The term "railroad," when used in this sub-title, includes every railroad,
other than a street railroad, by whatsoever power operated for public use
in the conveyance of persons or property for compensation, with all bridges,
ferries, tunnels, switches, spurs, tracks, stations and terminal facilities of
every kind, used, operated, controlled or owned by or in connection with
any such railroad.
The term "street railroad," when used in this sub-title, includes every
railroad by whatsoever power operated, or any extension or extensions,
branch or branches thereof, for public use in the conveyance of persons
