CHAPTER XV—Communications.
An. Code, 1924, sec. 106. 1922, ch. 307, sec. 105.

106. Efficient means of communication and signalling between the top
and bottom of every shaft and slope and to any other points deemed neces-
sary by the Bureau shall be provided and maintained, in a manner and
by means directed and approved by such Bureau.

107. Uniform forms for signal and warning devices and indicating
signs shall be prepared by the Bureau and the operator of every mine shall
provide, distribute and employ such numbers thereof as may be directed,
convenient for use at need to notify persons concerned of dangers not
readily apparent.

108. The following signal code, where applicable shall be followed
in all mines when signals are used:

ONE RING or WHISTLE: Hoist; if in motion, Stop.

TWO RINGS or WHISTLES: Lower Cage. If signaled from top,
Send Away Empty Cage.

THREE RINGS or WHISTLES: Men are Coming Up. When engi-
neer replies by one ring, persons get on cage and ring once to hoist.

FOUR RINGS or WHISTLES: Hoist Slowly; implying danger.

FIVE RINGS or WHISTLES: Accident in Mine—Send Stretcher.

Additional signals may be added by agreement between the operator
and the district mine inspector, but such signals must be printed together
with the code herein provided, on large posters or cards, and displayed in
the engine room and at all points where used.

109. Any person who shall deface, pull down, destroy, interfere with
or disregard any notice board, signal or warning in any such mine, or
knowingly damage any signal or communication system, or knowingly
give or cause to be given any wrong signal within or about such mine, or
deface or destroy any general or special rules or mining laws, or know-
ingly destroy, falsify or remove or conceal any record or report herein re-
quired to be made and kept, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.

CHAPTER XVI—Electricity in Mines and Mining.
An. Code, 1924, sec. 110. 1922, ch. 307, sec. 109.

110. All electric systems employed in, at, or about any mine in this
State shall be installed, extended and/or operated subject to reasonable
regulation and supervision by the Bureau; Provided, That in making and
amending such regulations, due regard shall be paid to commercially ac-
cepted and approved underwriters' regulations, and to electric regulations
recommen'ded by the United States Bureau of Mines.

111. The various electric systems shall be classified by voltages as fol-
lows : All such systems wherein the maximum voltage cannot exceed 300
