1. This Article shall be cited as the "State Police Act."

2. The following words and phrases as used in this Article shall have
or include the following meanings:

(a) "Department" shall mean the "Department of Maryland State
Police" as created by this Article.

(b) "Employee" shall mean any employee of the Department,
(c) "Police Employees" shall mean any employee who is assigned to
police work as a peace officer, pursuant to Section 19 of this Article.

(d) "Civilian Employee" shall mean any employee assigned to a posi-
tion other than that of police employee.

(e) "Motor Vehicle" shall include motor cycle, motor cycle and side
car, and any motor vehicle designed, constructed or intended to be pro-
pelled or drawn by any power other than muscular power, except such
vehicles as run only upon rails or tracks.
