holder accruing on or after the date of the award, or (b) in the case of
Tuition Scholarships the tuition fees of the scholarship holder accruing
on or after the date of the award.
(4) A State Senator may in his discretion award a scholarship for his
Legislative District or County to two or more qualified residents of such
Legislative District or County, and such award shall be accepted by the
College in partial satisfaction of (a) in the case of a Full Senatorial
Scholarship, the tuition, room, and board fees of the appointees, or (b) in
the case of a Tuition Scholarship, the tuition fees of the appointees, accru-
ing on or after the date of the award, and in the manner in which the
award has been divided by the Senator, provided, however, that the total
amount of fees foregone by the College in any such case shall not be more
than the total value of the scholarship at the date of such divided award.
(5) Nothing in this Act shall be construed to prevent the awarding of
a scholarship to an otherwise qualified person by reason of his being already
a student at St. John's College.

239. One male student from each senatorial district of the State shall
be educated free of charge for tuition, board, fuel, lights and washing,
and shall be appointed by the school commissioners in said senatorial dis-
trict, by and with the advice and consent of the senator in their respective
senatorial districts after a competitive examination of the candidates; pro-
vided, that the said appointment shall not be held by the same student for
more than four years, and that each student receiving such appointment
shall give bond to the State of Maryland for such amount, with such se-
curity as may be approved of by the president of said college, that he will
teach school within this State for not less than two years after leaving
college.
No obligation assumed by state to see that person giving bond under this section
