the sum of $20.00 annually, but in Kent, Talbot and Queen Anne's Coun-
ties shall receive annually the sum of $50.00; but they may retain all fees
lawfully charged by them for taking acknowledgments or affidavits unre-
lated to their civil or criminal jurisdiction.

103. (Minimum Salaries Only.) All salaries herein provided shall be
considered minimum salaries, except as herein provided for Baltimore
County, and may be increased at any time by the County Commissioners
from county funds; and the County Commissioners are specifically author-
ized to add to the compensation of such other justices as may act as com-
mitting justices for the trial magistrates in proportion to the amount of
work such other justices may be called upon from time to time to perform.
The annual salaries of trial magistrates and constables at large shall be
paid in equal monthly amounts. Any incorporated municipality in any
county may add to the compensation herein provided for such other jus-
tices as may act as committing justices, in consideration for services ren-
dered in cases involving violations of municipal ordinances, provided that
such compensation shall not be on a fee basis.
The Salaries for Trial Magistrates in Baltimore County and the salaries
for constables to trial magistrates in Baltimore County specified in this
sub-title shall be considered maximum salaries and not subject to increase.

104. (Clerks.) The County Commissioners shall provide such cleri-
cal assistance, and pay such compensation therefor, as said Commissioners
may deem reasonably necessary for any trial magistrate. The appointment
of clerical assistants shall be made by the trial magistrate to be thus served,
when provision therefor is made by the County Commissioners; except that
in Montgomery, Allegany and Prince George's Counties such clerical
assistants shall be appointed by the County Commissioners of said counties.

105. (Expenses.) The trial magistrates, including the substitute
magistrates provided for in Section 110 hereof, required by this sub-title
to sit at more than one place may be allowed traveling expenses necessarily
incident to their duties at the rate of five cents per mile which shall be
paid to them by the County Commissioners, upon vouchers duly certified.
Constables duly assigned to said magistrates, and clerical assistants ap-
pointed under authorization of the County Commissioners shall be present
at the trial rooms provided for them at all times during their sessions.
The said constables and clerical assistants may also be allowed their neces-
sary traveling expenses at the rate of five cents per mile.

106. (Dockets.) The dockets of said magistrates, which they shall
shall have with them at all of their sessions, shall conform as nearly as
practicable to those used for civil and criminal cases in the Circuit Courts
of the State, except that in cases under the Motor Vehicles Law they shall
use dockets and report forms furnished them by the Commissioner of
Motor Vehicles.
