Farm Products.

22. For the purpose of this sub-title, unless otherwise required by the
context:
(a) The term "Department" means the Maryland State Department
of Markets of the Extension Service of the University of Maryland;
(b) The term "Board" means the Maryland State Board of Agriculture;
(e) The term "Farm Product" means any agricultural, horticultural,
vegetable or fruit product of the soil, including live stock, meats, marine
food products, poultry, eggs, dairy products, wool, hides, feathers, nuts,
honey and every product of farm, forest, orchard, garden or water, but
shall not include canned, frozen, dried, pickled products.
(d) The term "certificate" means a certificate of the quality, condi-
tion, grade or other classification of any farm product and shall include a
certificate of the Maryland State Board of Agriculture or of the United
States Department of Agriculture.
(e) The term "person" means any person, firm, corporation or
association.

23. When requested by any person financially interested in any farm
product, the Board, through the Department and its duly authorized agents,
may:
(1) examine such product to determine its quality, condition, grade or
other classification, either on the basis of the standards which have been
or may be promulgated by the Department or by the Board, or on the
basis of the standards announced from time to time by the United States
Department of Agriculture;
(2) provide said person with an official certificate, and
(3) prescribe such rules and regulations concerning the inspection and
certification of any farm product, including the payment of reasonable
fees, as may be necessary to effectuate the purposes of this sub-title.

24. The Board shall cooperate with the United States Government and
any sub-division thereof and may designate any competent person who
has been duly licensed for such work by the United States Department of
Agriculture, to examine, classify, and certify any farm product in accor-
dance with such rules and regulations as it may prescribe and at such
places as the volume of business may warrant the furnishing of inspec-
tion service.

25. Any person pecuniarily interested in any farm products may
appeal to the Board, in accordance with such regulations as the Board may
prescribe, from any act of an inspector in the performance or omission
of his duty. Upon the filing of an appeal, the appellant shall deposit a
sum double the fee charged by the inspector, which sum shall be refunded
to the appellant if the act or omission of the inspector be found erroneous.
The Board shall correct any error of an inspector by such affirmative action
as may be necessary.
