The State Board of Agriculture and the Regents of the
University of Maryland.1

An. Code, 1924, sec. 101. 1922, ch. 29 (p. 56).

143. The heads of this department shall be the State Board of Agri-
culture and the Regents of the University of Maryland, constituted and
organized as at present; and all the rights, powers, duties, obligations and
functions conferred by any and every provision of law upon said Board or
upon the said Regents, or upon both or either, shall continue unaffected by
this Act; it being the intention that this Act shall in no way affect any of
the provisions of law relating to the said Board or the said Regents, or
both, except as herein provided.

University of Maryland, an agency of the State, cannot be sued for breach of contract
for erection of dormitory after its erection, the funds for such purpose having been
exhausted. Univ. of Md. v. Maas, 173 Md. 554.

144. The Regents of the University of Maryland are hereby author-
ized and empowered on behalf of said University and for its proper use
and benefit to accept irrespective of the amount or value thereof any
donation, gift, grant or devise from any individual, association, society or
corporation, or from the United States Government, or any authorized
branch, board, commission, bureau, agency, division, sub-division or de-
partment thereof.

145. On January 1, 1923, all the rights, powers, duties, obligations
and functions of the State Board of Forestry, as the same are set forth in
Article 39A of the Annotated Code, title "Forestry," or in any other pro-
visions of law, shall be transferred to and thereafter be exercised and per-
formed by the Regents of the University of Maryland, as the lawful suc-
cessors to said State Board of Forestry, to the same extent and effect
as if the said Regents of the University of Maryland had been named in
the provisions of said Article or other provisions of law as the body upon
whom the said rights, powers, duties, obligations and functions were con-
ferred. Thereupon the terms of office of the members of the said State
Board of Forestry shall cease and be at an end and the said Board shall
be and stand abolished.

146. On January 1, 1923, all the rights, powers, duties, obligations
and functions of the State Geological and Economic Survey Commission,
as the same are set forth in sections 19 to 24 inc. of Article 91 of the

Ch. 397, acts of 1931, authorized the Board of Regents to acquire land in Baltimore
City for the erection of a hospital.

Ch. 247, acts of 1933, authorized the Board of Regents to convey easement over
its land near Princess Anne to Eastern Shore Public Service Company of Maryland.

Ch. 301, 1939, authorized the Board of Regents to sell and convey certain real estate
in Baltimore County given to said Board by Charles E. McManus and wife, and to
use the proceeds for poultry plant at College Park.
