of the Senate. The Governor may remove any member of said Board
for inefficiency, neglect of duty or misconduct in office, giving to such mem-
ber a copy of the charges preferred, and the opportunity of being first pub-
licly heard in person or by counsel. If such member shall be removed, the
Governor shall file in the office of the Secretary of State a complete state-
ment of all charges made against such member, and his findings thereof,
together with a complete record of the proceedings. The salary of the
Director and Chairman shall be $4,000 per annum, and the associated
members shall serve without pay.

744. Before entering upon the discharge of the duties of his office,
each member of said Board shall take an oath that he will well and faith-
fully execute and perform all and singular the duties appertaining to his
office according to the laws of the State and the rules and regulations
adopted in accordance therewith. The associate members of the Board of
Correction shall not be required to give bond for the faithful performance
of their duties, but the Director of Correction shall be required to give bond
for the faithful performance of his duties in the penalty of $25,000, and the
treasurer of said Board, if they shall select a treasurer other than the
Director of Correction, shall give bond for the faithful performance of his
duties in the penalty of such sum as the Board of Correction may fix, but
not less than $10,000. The Board of Correction shall have power to' select
a treasurer and such treasurer need not be a member of the Board of Cor-
rection. Every such bond, when duly executed and approved, shall be
recorded in the office of the Clerk of the Court of Appeals, and certified
copies, under seal of said Court, may be used in evidence in any Court in
this State. It shall be the duty of the Governor at all times, when in his
opinion the security or securities of the Director of Correction or the
Treasurer of said Board have become or are likely to become invalid or
insufficient, to demand and require such official forthwith to renew his
bond to the State of Maryland, with security or securities to be approved
by the Governor, in the penalty and according to the form prescribed in
this Section. Any member of said Board, who shall fail to take oath and
any official f ailing to give bond with security or securities aforesaid within
thirty days from the date of his appointment, or who shall fail to renew
bond with security or securities as aforesaid within thirty days after the
same shall have been demanded and required by the Governor, shall be
deemed to be guilty of neglect of duty and shall be removable as heretofore
provided. The cost of any bond, given by any official under this Section,
shall be taken to be a part of the necessary expenses of said Board and shall
be payable as hereafter provided.

745. The Board of Correction shall have power to employ, and remove
at pleasure, a Secretary with such duties and at such salary or compensa-
tion as the said Board may prescribe; and the said Board shall have power
to employ, and remove at pleasure, such other employees as said Board may
