804. ARTICLE 56.

section, and payment of such proportion of one-half of one cent (1/2 of 1
ct.) a square foot of each billboard or other structure or advertisement to
be used as aforesaid, as the unexpired portion of the year bears to a full
year, provided that the minimum fee shall in no case be less than one
dollar ($1.00).

1931, ch. 324, sec. 278.

278. The name and post office address of the person, firm or corpora-
tion owning any billboard or structure, or other advertisement, or con-
trolling the same for advertising purposes, shall be plainly inscribed there-
on. Permits shall be numbered consecutively, and each billboard or other
structure used for advertising purposes, shall show the number and ex-
piration date of the permit.

No permit shall be required in order to erect, maintain or use any bill-
board or other structure on real estate exclusively to advertise the same for
sale or to let; nor to erect, maintain or use the same on the building or
structure or within one hundred feet of such building or the entrance
thereto, where the business advertised is carried on, or to advertise ex-
clusively Maryland historic shrines, institutions and church and county
fairs to be held in Maryland.

1931, ch. 324, sec. 279.

279. Before any license or permit or renewal thereof required by this
sub-title shall be issued to any person, firm or corporation not a resident
of this State, such person, firm or corporation shall execute and file with
the State Roads Commission a bond to the State of Maryland, with surety
to be approved by said Commission, in the penalty of $1,000, the condition
of which shall be that the obligor shall pay to the State all sums as shall
become due it under this sub-title and shall comply with all the provisions
thereof or rules adopted pursuant thereto.

1931, ch. 324, sec. 280.

280. Nothing in this sub-title shall affect any existing structure or
advertising display unless such structure or advertising display would
injuriously affect the safety of public travel on the State highways by
dangerously obstructing the clear view of the highway by one operating a
motor vehicles thereon excepting that the permit fee provided for in Sec-
tion 277 of this Sub-title shall be paid therefor beginning on June 1, 1931.

1931, ch. 324, sec. 281.

281. The State Roads Commission is hereby charged with the ad-
ministration and enforcement of this sub-title, and in connection there-
with may make and enforce regulations and orders to carry out its pur-
poses, and it is hereby authorized to remove, after thirty days' written
notice given to the person, firm or corporation owning or controlling the
same, any billboard or other structure, sign, poster or other advertisement
display erected or maintained contrary to the provisions of this sub-title.
