be fixed by the Board not to exceed $2, 400. 00 per year. Members of the
Board may administer oaths.

1935, ch. 282, sec. 406.

420. Secretary. Bond Required. The Secretary of said Board shall
give a corporate surety bond, payable to the Board, in the penal sum of
Five Thousand Dollars ($5, 000. 00), the premium for such bond to be
part of the expenses of said Board, conditioned for the faithful perform-
ance of the duties of his or her office. Such bond shall have the approval
of the Board and shall be deposited with the Chairman of the Board and
kept in his or her office.

421. Compensation of Board and Employees. Each member of said
Board shall receive Ten Dollars ($10. 00) for each day employed in the
actual discharge of his or her official duties, not to exceed in any one year
the sum of $200. 00 for any member of the board, and his or her necessary
expenses so incurred. The compensation and expenses of the members
and officers of said Board, and all expenses, including office help and pro-
fessional advice, and services which, in the opinion of said Board, are
proper and necessary to discharge its duties and to enforce the law, shall
be paid out of such fund upon the approval of the Chairman of said
Board. The salaries shall be paid by the Board at the rate per diem
of actual service herein provided and traveling expenses may be allowed
in the discretion of the board not exceeding five cents per mile. Said
Board may also employ a chief inspector to assist the Board in the dis-
charge of its duties, and two assistants. The annual salary of the chief
inspector shall not exceed $2, 100. 00 per year and the salaries of the
assistant inspectors shall be at the rate of Five Dollars ($5. 00) per day
for each day employed and be payable out of the funds of the Board.

422. Examinations. If the Board finds that the applicant has sub-
mitted the credentials required by this sub-title for admission to examina-
tion, and has paid the registration fee required by this sub-title, the Board
shall admit, such applicant to examination, and shall issue certificates of
registration to practice as operator, manager, demonstrator or teacher, as
the case may be, to those successfully passing the required examinations.
The said Board shall meet in the City of Baltimore on the second Tues-
day of January and July of each year for the purpose of holding examina-
tions, or oftener and elsewhere if deemed necessary. Two members of the
Board shall constitute a quorum for the purpose of holding examinations.

423. Rules By Board. The Board shall prescribe reasonable rules for
its conduct, and for the qualifications, registration and examination of ap-
plicants to practice or teach beauty culture, and for the registration of
