the absence of the superintendent) of any cemetery or burial place, who
shall permit any other person than a duly licensed Undertaker, under
Sections 296 and 297 of this Article, to deliver for burial or offer for
cremation the body of a deceased person shall be guilty of a misdemeanor,
and upon conviction thereof before any court of competent jurisdiction,
shall be fined not more than one hundred dollars, or sentenced to undergo
an imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or both in the dis-
cretion of the court for each and every offense. Any person or persons
who shall practice or hold himself, or themselves out as embalmers in this
State, without having complied with the provisions of this sub-title shall
be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof before
any Court in this State shall be sentenced to pay a fine of not less than
fifty nor more than five hundred dollars, or undergo an imprisonment not
exceeding one year, or both at the discretion of the Court, for each and
every offense; provided that nothing contained in this sub-title shall be
construed to, apply to bona fide employees of a duly licensed embalmer,
or undertaker, who are serving their apprenticeship, or the employee of
any cemetery whose duty extends no further, or any school of anatomy,
medicine or dentistry, or to interfere with any officer or employee of the
United States or the District of Columbia in the discharge of their official
duties.

304A. It shall be the duty of the said Board of Undertakers and they
are hereby empowered to make such rules and regulations for the enforce-
ment of the provisions of this sub-title and for the performance of their
duties hereunder, from time to time, as in their judgment they may deem
necessary and requisite; and they are hereby authorized to investigate
any alleged violations of the provisions of this sub-title, to swear out
warrants against any alleged violators of the provisions of this sub-title,
to aid in the prosecution of any alleged violations of any of the pro-
visions of this sub-title, and in general to enforce, and make effective the
provisions of this sub-title. Any and all expenses, costs and fees incurred
by said Board of Undertakers in enforcing the provisions of this sub-title
shall be paid out of the receipts as hereinabove provided for.

314. Out of the funds coming into the possession of said Board, each
member thereof attending the meetings for examination and registration
may receive as compensation the sum of three dollars for each applicant
that may be examined; and, further, each member may receive as com-
pensation a sum to be determined by said Board which shall not exceed ten
dollars for each day actually engaged in necessary duties of his office and
the actual amount of traveling expenses of such member incident to attend-
ing said meetings of the Board. In addition to any amounts which may
