88 ARTICLE 1.

sections, and the police authorities of said cities are specially charged with
the execution thereof, and to that end shall direct nightly examinations by
some of their officers, of all such places.

MUNICIPAL BAND.

1924, ch. 255.

243. The musical instruments of the Frostburg City Band, Incorpo-
rated, shall be exempt from all county and municipal taxation.

1929, ch. 182, sec. 1.

244. The Mayor and Councilmen of Frostburg are hereby authorized
and empowered to establish a Municipal Band for the City of Frostburg,
for the purpose of giving free concerts to the citizens of Frostburg and
for such other purposes as they may from time to time designate.

1929, ch. 182, sec. 2.

245. The Mayor and Councilmen of Frostburg shall have full power
and authority to designate any band now or hereafter organized within
the City of Frostburg as the Municipal Band of said City, and when so
designated, the said Mayor and Councilmen of Frostburg shall have full
power and authority to make all rules and regulations necessary for the
conduct of said band as a Municipal Band.

1929, ch. 182, sec. 3.

246. The said Mayor and Councilmen of Frostburg shall have and
they are hereby given the power and authority to include in the annual
levy of the assessable property in the City of Frostburg such amount as
shall produce such yearly sum, not to exceed six hundred dollars ($600),
as the Mayor and Councilmen of Frostburg shall choose to appropriate
in order to purchase music, supplies and equipment for said band and
compensation for the Director of said band, but not for any compensa-
tion to any of the other members of said band, and for such other pur-
poses as the said Mayor and Councilmen of Frostburg may deem proper
or requisite to carry out the purposes of this Act.

1929, ch. 182, sec. 4.

247. All moneys realized from said tax shall be kept by the Mayor
and Councilmen in a special fund to be known as the "Municipal Band
Fund," and shall be used for no other purpose than those herein specified.
All payments out of said fund to said Municipal Band shall be within
the discretion of the Mayor and Councilmen of Frostburg and may at any
time be discontinued for any cause satisfactory to the Mayor and Council-
men of Frostburg. And it shall be the duty of the proper officials of
said band to prepare and file with the Mayor and Councilmen of Frost-
burg on the first day of November and May of each year, a sworn state-
ment showing the precise purposes for which any moneys so appropriated
have, during the preceding six-month period, been disbursed.
