sold, with the seal of the town affixed, and the said deed shall convey to
the purchaser the property sold.

221. The bailiff of said town may make all collections required of him
at any time within the year for which he was appointed.

222. During the month of May, in the year 1897, and every year there-
after, the Mayor and Councilmen may appoint a supervisor or super-
visors of the streets, lanes and alleys of said town, and direct in what
manner the same shall be kept up and repaired, and may allow such
supervisor such compensation for his services as they may deem reason-
able.

223. That it shall be unlawful for the bailiff, night police, or any one
acting for or as a special police, to enter any saloon while on duty unless
he shall hear noises or disturbances in any saloon in said town of Frost-
burg, then it shall be his duty to enter the place and arrest all concerned
in riotous conduct, and have dealt with according to law.

224. Any officer violating the aforegoing section shall be fined by the
Mayor five dollars, and for second offense may be dismissed from office,
and his place filled by the Mayor and Councilmen for the remainder of
his term; if he should deny the charges he shall be given a trial before
the Mayor and Councilmen, and their verdict shall be final, it taking
five votes to render a verdict; any fine that shall be imposed may be de-
ducted from the salary of the officers so offending or collected as other
fines are collected.

225. The bailiff of said town shall attend the meetings of the Mayor
and Councilmen when required, and perform such services as they shall
direct; shall prevent the tumultuous and irregular meetings of dissolute
and disorderly persons within said town, and disperse them, when assem-
bled, by lawful means, and they shall be held amenable to such penalties
as shall be prescribed by the Mayor and Councilmen.

226. The bailiff and all policemen of said town, duly elected or ap-
pointed according to law, shall have the same nowers and receive the same
fees as constables in Allegany County for making arrests or serving process
for violation of the ordinances of said town or in the discharge of their
duties as such. The bailiff shall collect and turn over to the treasurer all
fines imposed for violations of ordinances, and shall properly care for
