93. The Governor is empowered to appoint an additional justice of
the peace for the Third Election District of Worcester County, in addi-
tion to those already provided for by law, provided he shall, in his dis-
cretion, decide the same to be necessary.

94. The Governor is authorized and empowered to appoint an addi-
tional justice of the peace in and for Election District No. 8, in Wor-
cester County, in addition to those now required by existing laws to be
appointed.

95. The justices of the peace in and for Worcester County shall have
jurisdiction over and may take cognizance of all actions of assault and
battery in which the damages claimed do not exceed the sum of one hun-
dred dollars; and also criminal jurisdiction in all cases of assault and
battery committed in said county, unless it shall appear to the said jus:
tices of the peace, upon the hearing of the case, that the said assault and
battery was committed with intent to kill.

96. In all such cases before the justices of the peace in and for said
county, either party shall be allowed an appeal to the Circuit Court where
they shall be tried de novo; and all such appeals shall be taken in such
manner as is now provided for by law in other cases of appeals from judg-
ments of justices of the peace.
