5200 ARTICLE 24.

46. Juries shall be summoned for the March and October terms only.

47. The judges of said court shall have power to pass all such rules
as shall be necessary to facilitate the transaction of business in said Court;
provided, such rules shall provide for the transaction of equity business;
and the said Court for equity business shall be considered to be always
open.

COURT STENOGRAPHER.

48. The judges of the first judicial circuit of this State are authorized
and empowered to employ a competent stenographer to serve in the respec-
tive courts of said circuit.

49. The salary of said stenographer shall be one thousand dollars
($1,000) per year, from the first day of May, nineteen hundred and eight;
the said salary to be paid as follows: The County Commissioners of Dor-
chester County, Wicomico County Somerset County and Worcester County
shall each pay the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars thereof; said pay-
ments to be made in quarterly instalments from the first day of May, nine-
teen hundred and eight, during service, on the presentation of the certificate
of the clerk of the Court of any county in said circuit or of any judge of
said court, to the County Commissioners certifying to the services of said
court stenographer. And the said County Commissioners of the several
counties are hereby directed and empowered to provide for the payment
of their several portions of the salary of the said stenographer at once on
presentation of said certificate.

50. The stenographer appointed hereunder shall serve for one year or
until his successor shall be appointed by the judges aforesaid, but shall
be removable at any time at the pleasure of said judges. The stenographer
so to be appointed shall be an officer of the court and shall perform such
duties as may be imposed upon him by the judges of said court or any
of them, and shall be required to furnish typewritten or printed copies
to the attorneys of the court as the court may prescribe and direct.

51. The clerk of the circuit court for Worcester County shall not be
subject to the provisions of the Act of 1884, Chapter 313.
