1904, ch. 14, sec. 28. 1920, ch. 494, sec. 28. 1924, ch. 523.

225. The Treasurer shall appoint a deputy, who shall perform such
duties as said Treasurer shall require and for whose official conduct said
Treasurer shall be responsible and who in the absence of the Treasurer
shall act in his place. Said deputy shall receive a salary of $1,500.00 per
annum, payable by the County Commissioners of Wicomico County in
monthly instalments for every year he may serve as such deputy, or pro
rata for a part thereof.

If it shall become necessary to employ other Clerk or Clerks in said
office, the Treasurer, by and with the consent of the County Commis-
sioners, may employ same at a salary or salaries to be fixed by said Com-
missioners. The Treasurer shall be responsible for the official conduct of
such Clerk or Clerks so appointed by him.

226. The said County Treasurer shall be subject to removal from office
at all times by the Judges of the Circuit Court for Wicomico County,
upon conviction for wilful neglect of duty, misdemeanor of malfeasance in
office, and said conviction shall be based upon presentment and indictment
by the Grand Jury of Wicomico County.

227. The County Commissioners shall appoint and furnish the Treas-
urer an office in the Court House for the transaction of his official business,
and the said office shall be open for that purpose each day of the year,
Suudav and legal holidays excepted, from eight o'clock A. M. to five
P. M.*

1904, ch. 14, sec. 31.

228. The provisions of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland
now in force, or hereafter enacted, applicable to collectors of State and
county taxes, except when the same are repealed by or inconsistent with
the provisions of this Act shall be held to apply to the Treasurer of said
county, who, as to his power, rights, duties and liabilities, both civil and
criminal, and those affecting his bond or bondsmen, shall be in all respects
in the same position as State and county collectors of taxes, except as
herein provided.

229. The Treasurer shall, at least once in each year, correct the list of
transfers on the tax books of the county, in accordance with the list fur-
nished by the Clerk of the Circuit Court for said county, this correction
to be made not exceeding thirty days before the time set for the making
of the annual lew.

*Sec. 32, ch. 14, 1904, and sec. 2, ch. 226, 1927, repealed all Acts inconsistent
therewith.
