697. The county commissioners shall not pass or order the payment of
any account for fuel, paper or stationery for the register of wills for said
county.

697A. When an assignment for an interest in any estate pending
distribution in the Orphans' Court of Washington County is filed for
record with the Register of Wills of said county, before the statement of
final accounts, such filing shall be constructive notice to any administrator
of such estate.

698. The Register of Wills for Washington County, Maryland, is
hereby required to transcribe as many of the indexes in the office of the
Register of Wills for said county into a new book or books well-bound for
that purpose, as may now be worn out or rendered inefficient from con-
tinued use; and also remodel the entire general index of wills and admin-
istrations and guardian accounts; and that he also fill and supply any
vacancy which may now exist in such general indexes.

699. Said Register of Wills for Washington County is required to
transcribe wills, books Liber "B" and "C," in said office in well-bound
books suitable and proper for the purpose.
ROADS.

700. It shall be the duty of the clerk of the County Commissioners of
Washington County immediately upon the appointment of any and all
road supervisors for said county, after their respective commissions shall
be made out and signed by the said County Commissioners, to mail to
each road supervisor, so appointed, his commission to issue to his latest
postoffice address or to deliver the said commission in person to the said
road supervisor if that be the most direct method for the clerk of the said
County Commissioners.

701. The county commissioners shall direct the supervisors of public
roads in said county, to cause to be erected and kept up at the public
expense, at all public cross-roads and where public roads fork, indexes or
finger-boards, pointing to the nearest town, mill or other public places
to which such roads lead, with the names of said places, and the distances
thereto, legibly inscribed on such finger-boards.
