243. The said officers of registration, appointed for any registration
district in the City of Hagerstown, shall endorse upon the back and write
at the head of each registry of voters, delivered to him as aforesaid, the
number of the ward of which said books may be respectively, the registries
of said voters; and shall sit for the purpose of ascertaining and registering
in the said two duplicate registries of voters of each of the wards of which
they may be officers of registration, at some place to be selected by him, as
convenient as possible to all residents of said wards, for three successive
days in March, in the year 1929; said sittings to begin on the first Monday
in March in the year 1929 and on the first Monday in March every four
years thereafter. They shall also sit on the second Wednesday after the
first Monday in March in the year nineteen hundred and twenty-nine, and
on the second Wednesday after the first Monday in March of every four
years thereafter, for the hearing of applications for reinstatements by
persons whose names shall have been stricken off, the said respective
officers of registration shall sit at said several sittings with open doors
from nine o'clock A. M. to nine o'clock P. M. on each day of their sessions,
and their proceedings, while so sitting, shall be public and open to free
inspection, without any obstruction whatever.

244. For the purpose of registering qualified voters residing in the
territory so annexed as aforesaid to the City of Hagerstown, as well as
any other voters residing in said City entitled to be registered, the officers
of registration of the City of Hagerstown shall sit at some place to be
selected by each of them respectively in their respective wards, with open
doors, from nine o'clock A. M. to nine o'clock P. M., on May 12, 13 and
14 in the year 1914, and said registration shall be conducted in the man-
ner, and in accordance with the requirements prescribed by existing law
for the registration of voters in said City, and, said Officers of Registra-
tion shall give in at least two newspapers of the City of Hagerstown at
least eight days' notice of the time and place of their sittings for registra-
tion as herein provided prior to the dates of said registration as herein
fixed. And provided further that said officers of registration shall receive
for said services the same compensation as is paid under existing law for
similar services. And provided further that for the purpose of such regis-
tration, any male citizen above the age of twenty-one years who shall have
resided in the State of Maryland, and in the area embraced within the
corporate limits of Hagerstown as herein extended, for a period of twelve
months next preceding May 4th, 1914, and in the area embraced in the
ward as herein extended where he offers to register for six months next
preceding May 4, 1914, shall be entitled to be registered.

245. On the first Monday of March, A. D. 1921, the respective officers
of registration as hereinbefore provided for each registration district shall
procure from the Mayor as hereinbefore provided, two new registries for
