1912, ch. 705, sec. 9.

505. The primary schools now located at Hillsboro, in Caroline Coun-
ty, and at Queen Anne's, in Queen Anne's County, shall not in any way
be affected by the provisions of this Act, but shall be maintained as they
now are by the said counties of Queen Anne's and Caroline, respectively,
with such additions and improvements as the boards of school commis-
sioners for the said respective counties may think best.

506. The County Commissioners for each of the said counties of
Talbot, Queen Anne's and Caroline shall levy a sufficient amount to defray
the respective shares required for the construction and equipment of said
high school, and in each year thereafter to levy an amount sufficient to
meet the cost of maintaining said high school.

507. The sheriff of said county shall be allowed for keeping and board-
ing each prisoner committed to the county jail for breach of the peace,
or for any criminal offence or otherwise, the sum of forty cents a day.

508. He shall receive eight per cent, commission for the collection of
officers' and attorneys' fees.

509. The County Commissioners of Talbot County shall pay to the
State's Attorney of said county, an annual salary of two thousand dollars
($2,000.00), payable quarterly; and it shall be unlawful for the said
State's Attorney to receive, or the County Commissioners to pay him, any
other or further compensation, salary, or fee of any kind whatsoever,
except as hereinafter provided.

510. All hogs are prohibited from going at large on any public road
within the limits of election district number five of Talbot county; pro-
vided, however, that the provisions of this sub-title of this article shall
not apply to the public roads of Potpie neck and Tilghman's island.

511. The owner of any and every hog found trespassing in violation
