4520 ARTICLE 21.

eral indexes in the names of both plaintiffs and defendants of all judg-
ments recovered in said court from the year eighteen hundred and
seventy-seven to eighteen hundred and eighty-nine, both inclusive, and
of all equity cases docketed in said court from the year eighteen hun-
dred and fifty to eighteen hundred and eighty-nine, both inclusive, and
shall be allowed therefor the same compensation as is now allowed by
law for making general indexes to land records of the county, in addition
to all costs for index record books to be furnished by said clerk, and
to be paid for by the county commissioners for Talbott county.

62. The County Commissioners of Talbot county are hereby directed
to pay to the clerk of the circuit court for Talbot county, whatever sum
or sums of money may be found to be due him under the preceding

section.

63. From and after the passage of this act it shall be the duty of said

clerk to enter in said indexes, in the name of both plaintiffs and defend-
ants, all judgments and equity cases thereafter, and also to enter the same
satisfied and ended, for which service he shall be allowed the sum of fifty
cents to be paid for by the parties to the suit as other costs are now paid.

64. It shall be the duty of the clerk of the circuit court, and the duty
of the register of wills of Talbot county, to keep the public records
belonging to their respective offices, stored in the fire-proof vaults of the

court-house, at all times except when said records are being used; and
the bonds of said clerk and of said register shall be liable for the loss
or destruction of any of said records not so kept in said vaults.

65. There shall be three County Commissioners of Talbot County;
they shall receive four dollars for each day they shall be engaged in
the discharge of their duties and mileage at the rate of ten cents per mile
for every mile from their places of residence to the county seat, that the
present Board of County Commissioners for said county of Talbot shall
hold their respective offices to which they were severally elected at the
last general election for four years from the date of their said election or
until their successors shall be elected and qualified, and that the county

commissioners hereafter to be elected for said county shall be elected on
general ticket by the qualified voters of said county on the Tuesday next
after the first Monday in the month of November in the year eighteen
hundred and ninety-five, as follows: One for two years, one for four
