4302 ARTICLE 19.

the court room of said court and the jury rooms attached thereto, and the
furniture therein at all times, and shall keep and maintain the same in
proper and safe condition for the use of the said court and the juries
thereof, and shall attend in person the sittings of the court at all times
when directed by any judge thereof, and shall have charge of and super-
intendence over the court house yard and the enclosure thereof, and shall
whitewash the fence around the same at least once a year, and otherwise
keep the yard in a neat and proper condition.

45. The said crier shall receive an annual salary of one hundred and
twenty-five dollars, to be paid quarterly by the County Commissioners of
said county, which shall be in full and in lieu of his fees, and shall be the
entire compensation for his duties.

COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.

46; St. Mary's County shall be divided into three commissioners' dis-
tricts as follows: "The first, second, eighth and ninth election districts shall
compose the first commissioner district. The third and sixth election dis-
trict shall compose the second commissioner district, and the fourth, fifth
and seventh election district shall compose the third commissioner district,
and one commissioner shall be elected as hereinafter provided by the gen-
eral vote of the county from each of said commissioner districts, who shall
serve for six years from the date of his election, and shall be ineligible for
six years thereafter a majority of said commissioners constituting a quorum
for the transaction of business.

Under Art. 17 of Md. Constitution the term of all elective county officials is four
years.

47. The County Commissioners of St. Mary's County shall receive a
salary of five hundred ($500) dollars per year each, including mileage.

48. At the next general election to be held in this State after the
passage of this act, and at every general election thereafter there shall be
elected one commissioner who shall be a resident of the commissioner dis-
trict in said county not represented in said board of county commissioners.
It being the intention of this act that each of paid commissioners' districts
shall have a representation in said board of county commissioners.

49. The County Commissioners for St. Mary's County shall require
the Clerk to the County Commissioners, in addition to his other duties
now prescribed by law, to keep accounts in well-bound record books, to be
