4218 ARTICLE 18.
Section rendered after the expiration of his term of office other than the
commissions allowed for the collection of delinquent taxes under the pro-
visions of this Act.*

212. Nothing in this act shall in any manner affect any of the powers
belonging to collectors of taxes of said county at the date of the passage
of the Act of 1898, Chapter 235, and at the date of the passage of the
Act of 1910, Chapter 369, so far aa the same are not inconsistent with the
provisions of this act, and its purposes, and so far as the same will facili-
tate the county treasurer of said county in the discharge of his duties here-
under, shall be possessed by and hereby given to said county treasurer, but
he shall not by implication be held to possess any of the powers of such
collectors as might tend to delay him in the discharge of his duties, or
render the purpose of this act more difficult; and it is hereby further pro-
vided that nothing in this act shall be construed to affect the right, powers,
or duty, of the sheriff or the county treasurer of said Queen Anne's county
to make collection of all State and county taxes due and in arrear at the
time of the passage of this act and it is hereby further provided that noth-
ing in this act shall be construed to affect in any manner the legality of
any tax sales heretofore made by any sheriff or any county treasurer of
said county; and the said sheriff and the said county treasurer shall report
such sales as provided by the existing law at the time of the making there-
of, and the same proceeding shall be had in reference thereto in the same
manner as if this act had not been enacted, +

213. In case of a vacancy by death, resignation, refusal to serve or
neglect to qualify, or give bond, or by disqualification, or removal from
the county of any treasurer appointed or elected under this Act, the County
Commissioners shall appoint a person to be County Treasurer for the
remainder of the official term. All books, papers and documents belonging
to the office of County Treasurer are the property of Queen Anne's County,
and at all times subject to examination by said County Commissioners or
any of them.

214. The County Commissioners of Queen Anne's county shall prior
to the first day of June, nineteen hundred, equip and furnish a suitable
and safe office for the use and conduct of the business pertaining to the
duties of said treasurer, and shall allow him all necessary expenses inci-
dent to the collection of the taxes hereinbefore provided for, provided he
shall first obtain an order therefor from said County Commissioners.
