of said county, and which fact shall be certified by the State's Attorney
upon the face of the bill; and provided further that no bill for autopsy
shall be paid by said County Commissioners, unless said bill shall bear
the approval of the State's Attorney and his certificate that said autopsy
was performed upon his instructions.

207. At the general election to be held on the first Tuesday after the
first Monday in the month of November in the year nineteen hundred
and one, there shall be elected seven County Commissioners for Anne
Arundel County, who shall each be elected for a term of two years and
be eligible for re-election; and at the general election for the year nine-
teen hundred and three, and every two years thereafter, there shall be
elected seven County Commissioners for Anne Arundel County; said
Commissioners shall meet at their office in the Court House at Annapolis,
for the transaction of the duties of their office at least one day in each
week, and on such other days as they may deem necessary.

A person to be eligible to the office of County Commissioners in Anne
Arundel County shall have actually resided in the county for at least ten
years, and shall be a taxpayer upon real estate in said county assessed
for at least two thousand dollars. Each County Commissioner shall re-
ceive a salary of three hundred dollars a year, without mileage or other
extra compensation of any kind.

Upon the election and qualification of the seven County Commissioners
elected at the general election of nineteen hundred and one, the terms
of all the present County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County shall
cease and determine as fully as if when elected they had only been elected
to serve until that time.

Under Art. 17 of Md. Constitution all elective county officers are elected in even
numbered years for four year terms.

208. They shall appoint a clerk, who shall hold his office for two
years from the date of his appointment and until the qualification of his
successor. He shall be removable at the pleasure of the County Commis-
sioners and shall receive an annual salary of not more than eighteen hun-
dred dollars ($1,800.00). Said salary shall include all fees or compen-
sation of any and every kind whatsoever, and the County Commissioners
are prohibited from voting to him any extra or additional compensation
on account of the performance of any duties directly or indirectly per-
taining to his office, including in such duties the making of contingent
funds, correcting and copying the assessment lists or books, acting as clerk
to the Board of Road Commissioners, transferring and auditing accounts
