of Upper Marlboro against offending parties, and all fines recovered in
such cases for the breach of any ordinance or by-laws of the corporation
before any justice of the peace for Prince George's county authorized to
act in such cases shall be collected by said justice of the peace and paid
over to the treasurer of the corporation within one week after the collec-
tion of the same. The justice of the peace may in default of payment
of any fines or penalties imposed by him for the violation of any ordi-
nances or by-laws of the said corporation, commit the party fined to the
county jail for a period not exceeding thirty days, and the sheriff shall
receive and confine the party so committed in the same manner as other
persons, and shall be entitled to the same compensation therefor.

1000. The commissioners shall cause to be kept a book, in which shall
be recorded every ordinance passed by said commissioners, which said
book shall at all times, under the supervision of the commissioners, or suck
person as they shall designate, be open to the inspection of the public;
all ordinances passed by the commissioners shall be written in a plain
hand, or printed and posted at two public places in the town, to be deter-
mined by the commissioners.

1001. In the event of a vacancy in the office of justice of the peace
resident in the town, or in case of sickness, absence or disability of said
justice, the hearing of the case or transaction of the business assigned to
said justice by this charter may be had before any other justice of the
peace in and for Prince George's county, and the Town Commissioners of
Upper Marlboro may provide for the expense so incurred.

1002. The Board of Road Directors of Prince George's County shall
pay annually three-fourths of the amount of road tax levied or imposed
upon the assessable property within the corporate limits of said town, when,
so collected to the Town Commissioners of Upper Marlboro.

1003. The County Commissioners of Prince George's County are
hereby authorized and directed to levy six hundred ($600.00) dollars
annually for the town of Upper Marlboro and to pay the same to the
Town Commissioners of said town; the said funds to be expended in such,
manner and for such purposes as the commissioners of said town, in their
discretion, deem expedient.

1004. The Board of Liquor License Commissioners of Prince George's
County shall pay over to the Town Commissioners of Upper Marlboro-
three-fourths of the money received from liquor licenses, under the pro-
