931. For transporting or conveying any person or persons under sen-
tence to any State or county institution or from any jail or other place of
confinement beyond the limits of Prince George's County, under sentence
or order of any legal authority, the County Commissioners shall pay to
the Sheriff the actual cost of transportation of himself and of such person
or persons so carried or conveyed as above mentioned. Before payment
of such expenses, however, the said Sheriff shall present under oath an
itemized account of such actual expenditures.

932. The salary of the Sheriff of Prince Georege's County shall be two
thousand four hundred dollars ($2,400.00) per year, payable in twelve
equal monthly installments of two hundred dollars ($200.00) each on the
first day of each month, and a further sum of two thousand four hundred
dollars ($2,400.000) annually for a deputy or deputies or clerical assistant
to be appointed by him, and which shall be paid in equal monthly install-
ments to such deputy or deputies or clerical assistant upon vouchers to
be approved by the said Sheriff who shall fix the compensation of such
deputy or deputies or clerical assistant. The County Commissioners shall
levy annually a sum sufficient for the payment of the salaries of said
Sheriff and of his deputy or deputies or clerical assistant, and to pay for
the actual traveling expenses to which he is entitled under Section 931
of this subtitle. The said Sheriff shall receive no other compensation, as
expenses, salary or otherwise, from the County Commissioners, except as
provided in this subtitle.

933. The Sheriff of Prince George's County shall collect all fines,
fees, costs and charges in criminal and civil cases to which he may be
entitled by law, and shall exercise all the powers conferred upon him by
law to enforce the collection of the same, and shall on the first of each
month make a written report of the same under oath to the County Com-
missioners of Prince George's County in such form as the said County
Commissioners may direct, and shall pay over to the said County Com-
missioners at the time of making such reports all such fees, costs or charges,
together with all fines or other county moneys collected by him; and when-
ever, any Sheriff shall retire from office leaving uncollected any costs, fines,
fees or charges in any cases lawfully payable to him, it shall be the duty
of his successor in office to collect the same and account and pay over the
same in the same manner as if such costs, fines, fees or charges had been
collected by his predecessors in office.
The Sheriff shall keep in his office a permanent record in a book in such
form as the County Commissioners shall prescribe, in which shall be
entered all costs, fees, fines or charges in all cases to which he is lawfully
entitled and the amounts collected by him, which said book shall remain
in his office after the expiration of his term, and shall become a perma-
nent record of the Sheriff's office and shall be open to inspection at any
