3844 ARTICLE 17.

1927, ch. 387, sec. 3.

374. Any owner or owners of a dog or keepers of kennels shall be re-
quired to make application for a license and tag and shall pay over the
sum required to the collector of dog tax in the District in which he resides,
and no tax shall be collected, and no tags issued other than by the person
designated by the County Commissioners to collect the tax in the District
in which he is so designated. And it shall be the duty of the collectors of
dog tax upon the payment of the tax, and in compliance with the require-
ments hereinbefore specified, to give the owner of the dog or the owner of
a kennel, a receipt in form hereinbefore described, and also a tag as herein-
before mentioned as required to be worn around the neck of the dog or
dogs so licensed.

1927, ch. 3S7, sec. 4.

375. If any person or persons directly or indirectly fail or refuse to
procure a tag for any dog owned by him, her or them, or for any dog in the
possession of, or over which said person may have the care or custody, on or
hefore the first day of September in each year, said person shall upon con-
viction thereof, be fined not more than twenty-five dollars ($25) and costs
of the prosecution, and shall be committed to the Prince George's County
jail until said fine and costs are paid for a period not to exceed thirty days;

one-half the fine imposed and collected shall be paid to the informer, and
any person, other than the sheriff, or any deputy sheriff or any constable

at large, may be entitled to claim and receive such informer's fee, upon
due proof that he is entitled to receive the same; and even though said per-
son as the informer may be the duly authorized collector of dog tax. It
shall be the duty of the sheriff, and any deputy sheriff and all constables
to enforce the provisions of this Act; and each of said officers are specially

charged to make diligent inquiry and investigate the violations of this Act.

1927, ch. 387, sec. 5.

376. The County Commissioners shall direct the constables in each
District to kill any dog for which said tax is not paid before the first day
of October in each year, and for such service the County Commissioners
may allow such compensation as they may deem adequate, provided it shall
be paid from the tax collected on dogs, and any person opposing or in any
way hindering any constable in killing any dog in the performance of his
duties shall be fined not less than ten dollars ($101 nor more than one
hundred dollars ($100) and costs upon conviction before the Police Jus-
tice in Prince George's County, and shall stand committed to the County
jail until said fine and costs are paid for a period not to exceed sixty days.

377. Every person who shall maliciously remove from any dog wear-
ing the legal tag procured as in this Act provided, or allow his dog to run
without wearing such tag, shall pay a fine not to exceed five dollars ($5)
and costs, upon conviction before the Police Justice of Prince George's
