3808 ARTICLE 17.

their successors shall have been chosen as provided in Section 274 of this
subtitle and shall have qualified as provided in paragraph J of Section 264
of this subtitle.

(B) Within ten (10) days (including Sundays and holidays) after
this charter becomes effective as provided in Section 12* of this Act, each
of three Commissioners named in paragraph A of this Section shall qualify
as such Commissioner by taking the oath of office of Commissioner as pro-
vided in paragraph J of Section 264 of this Article.

(C) If any person named as Commissioner in paragraph A of this
Section shall fail to qualify as provided in paragraph B of this Section,
or in case a vacancy in the office of Commissioner shall exist or occur as
a result of death, resignation or otherwise, the remaining qualified Com-
missioner (if there be but one) shall appoint a person as Commissioner
who is eligible for the office of Commissioner under the provisions of para-
graph N of Section 274 of this Article, provided, however, that if such
appointment is made prior to the first registration of voters, such person
so appointed shall not be disqualified for such office of Commissioner be-
cause he is not a registered voter, and if any such vacancy exists in the
office of Commissioner and there are two remaining qualified Commis-
sioners, such two remaining qualified Commissioners shall appoint a per-
son as Commissioner who is eligible for the office of Commissioner under
the provisions of paragraph N of Section 274 of this Article, provided,
however, that if such appointment is made prior to the first registration
of voters, such person so appointed shall not be disqualified for such office
of Commissioner because he is not a registered voter. And any person so
appointed Commissioner shall qualify as such Commissioner by taking the
oath of office provided in paragraph J of Section 264 of this Article.

(D) The Cottage City Commission shall keep a record of all of its
Commissioners, which record shall state (1) the full name of each Com-
missioner, (2) from what ward he was appointed or elected, (3) when
he was appointed or elected, (4) when he qualified by taking the oath of
office, (5) when he ceased to be such Commissioner and the reason there-
for, whether by expiration of his office, death, resignation or otherwise.

276. All State and county officers shall have, hold and exercise their
offices in said town as heretofore, except as limited by the provision of this
Act.

amendment be signed by at least one-half as many registered voters as
