ORPHANS' COURT.

1920, ch. 174. 1922, ch. 209.

294. The Judges of the Orphans' Court of Kent County shall each
receive the sum of five dollars ($5.00) for every day's attendance upon
the sessions of said Court, to be paid by the County Commissioners of
said Kent County in quarterly payments, and in addition thereto there
shall be paid to the said Judges the sum of five cents (5c.) per mile for
each mile traveled by them in going to and returning from the said ses-
sions of the Orphans' Court, to be paid by the said County Commissioners
of Kent County upon the certificates of the Register of Wills for said
county; provided, that no Judge of said Court shall receive in any one
year as compensation for his services and mileage as allowed thereunder
a sum exceeding five hundred dollars ($500.00). Provided, that nothing
in this section shall affect the compensation received by the present Judges
for the term for which they are now serving.

295. The supervisors of roads in said county may cut an opening in
any bank erected alongside of the public roads, so that the water may
pass off.

296. The County Commissioners of Kent County are authorized and
empowered to control and regulate the public roads and bridges in said
county, subject to the provisions of this Act.

297. The County Commissioners of Kent County, may, at the time of
making their annual levy, levy upon the taxable property of said County,
a tax of not less than 20 Cents on the One Hundred Dollars, one-half of
which shall be used for the repair and reconstruction of public roads and
bridges in said County and the remaining one-half of which shall be used
for the construction and reconstruction of permanent slag or Stone Roads
in said County, and, in addition thereto, the said County Commissioners
of Kent County (The said County Commissioners may appropriate or
levy such other sum or sums of money as they may deem requisite for
building of new bridges and opening of new roads, and for repairing,
constructing and reconstructing public roads and bridges in said County
by slag, stone or otherwise. All of the taxes levied and collected under
the provisions of this section shall be disbursed by the County Commis-
sioners upon the roads and bridges in said County and in the manner
hereinafter provided, and in no other.

bonds for roads and bridges, both Acts being approved on referendum.
