and it shall be his duty to attend in person to collect and receive taxes at
least twice during the collection year in each election district at such time
and places as he may designate, of which at least ten days' notice shall
be given by publication in a newspaper or newspapers and by hand bills
posted in the respective districts, at the expense of the county; not to
exceed, however, the sum of fifty dollars.

96. It shall be the duty of the Clerk of County Commissioners of
Howard County within ten days after the annual tax levy shall have been
made, to deliver to the Treasurer a fair copy of the assessment list of
said County, showing the aggregate assessment of every person, corporate
institution or set of persons as the same then appears on the assessment
books of said county, with the names of said owners arranged according
to election districts and alphabetically for each district and the amount
of said State and County taxes due and owing by every person, corporate
institution or set of persons, also to deliver to said Treasurer a certified
copy of the rules or resolutions of said County Commissioners making
said tax levy, and also to deliver to said Treasurer a certified copy from
such book containing the same, of a list of each item for which and each
person for whom a levy is made and the amount thereof, and the said
Treasurer shall pay the same out of his collections upon the order of said
County Commissioners, and the said Treasurer shall receive for his serv-
ices a salary of two thousand ($2,000.00) dollars per annum, to be paid
by the said County Commissioners.

97. All taxes unpaid on the first clay of October following the levy
shall bear interest from said first day of October until paid at the rate
of six per centum per annum, and said treasurer shall account for said
interest in his settlement with the County Commissioners.

98. It shall be the duty of the treasurer to keep certain books and all
needful stationery, including postage to be paid for by the commissioners,
in which books shall be entered a full, fair and correct account of all
matters relating to the duties of his office; he shall also keep a full and
fair correct cash account, showing all sums of money received by him,
so as to indicate the sources whence received and showing all sums of
money disbursed by him, so as to indicate the purposes to which applied;
he shall report and exhibit to the said commissioners, and in every three
months or oftener, if required by said commissioners, a full and par-
ticular statement and account of his receipts and disbursements from the
time of his appointment or election, as the case may be, or from the time
of his last report, which statement shall be published in at least two news-
papers published in Howard county, and shall exhibit also his vouchers
