2768 ARTICLE 12.

license, tax, restrain or prohibit theatrical and all other exhibitions,
shows or entertainments for which money is demanded or received; pro-
vided, that lectures on scientific, historic, benevolent, artistic, religious or
literary subjects, and apparatus for the education of the same and speci-
mens of fine art, shall not be deemed to be within this provision; to regu-
late the sale of all kinds of property at auction in the streets, stores, shops
or elsewhere in the town, and to license auctioneers and all venders of
property on the streets or squares or other places in said town; to license,
tax, regulate, suppress and prohibit hawkers and itinerant dealers, ped-
dlers and pawnbrokers and to revoke such license at pleasure; to license,
tax and regulate branch stores and all other concerns established in said
town for temporary business only.

213. The said Mayor shall annually appoint a bailiff, whose duty it
shall be to preserve the peace and good order of said town, and for this
purpose he is vested with the same power and authority as constables
have under the laws of this State; said bailiff shall also be the collector
of all taxes levied by said Mayor and Council, and for his services as such
collector he shall receive such compensation as the Mayor and Council
from time to time shall fix and regulate; for all arrest and service of
process as said bailiff he shall receive the same fees and compensation as is
allowed constables of this State for similar work, and such other com-
pensation from the Mayor and Council for his services as said bailiff as
may be agreed upon; the said bailiff before he shall enter upon his duties
as collector of taxes and before any tax list is placed in his hands for
collection, he shall give a good and sufficient bond with one or more
sureties to be approved by said Mayor and Council and conditioned for
the faithful discharge of his duties as such collector; said bond shall be
payable to the Mayor and Council of Grantsville, and shall be for the
sum of one thousand dollars.

1906, ch. 423, sec. 121.

214. The said Mayor and Council may from time to time cause an
assessment to be made of all the property liable to State and county taxes
within the corporate limits of said town of Grantsville, and to levy a tax
thereon not exceeding fifty cents on the one hundred dollars in each year,
and said property shall be assessed at its actual cash value and the said
Mayor and Council may by ordinance provide methods and means for the
collection of said taxes and for the enforcement of the payment thereof.

215. The corporate limits of the town of Grantsville are hereby de-
clared to be as follows: Beginning at oak tree and running north 74 de-
grees west 275 rods to a stake; thence south 16 degrees west 100 rods to
a stake; thence south 74 degrees east 275 rods to a stake; thence north 16
degrees east 100 rods to point of beginning.
