line on said streets.

1912, ch. 812, sec. 330A.

312. The year for ordering and repairing the streets, lanes, alleys and
thoroughfares of said town shall be reckoned from the first Monday of
July, inclusive, in one year to the first Monday of July, inclusive, in the
next year.

Every able-bodied male person bewteen the age of 21 and 50 years who
has resided in said town for four months shall be bound to work on the
streets, lanes, alleys and thoroughfares of said town, for one day in every
year, as the year is herein defined. And if any person who is liable to
render service fails to attend, on notice from the bailiff, or sub-bailiff, or
who appears and fails or refuses to work and render service as by the per-
son or persons supervising the work he is required and instructed, shall be
guilty of a misdemeanor, and on conviction thereof, before a justice of the
peace or in the Circuit Court for Dorchester County, such person shall be
fined one dollar, and shall be adjudged to pay the costs and to stand com-
mitted to jail until fine and costs are paid and he shall be bound to render
proper service. Any person who pays to the bailiff the sum of one dollar
in lieu of rendering personal service on the streets, lanes and thorough-
fares of Hurlock shall receive a receipt therefor from said bailiff exempt-
ing him from work and service on the street for the term of one year, as
the year is hereinbefore defined. The Commissioners of Hurlock shall
have full power and authority to pass one or more ordinances for execut-
ing, carrying out and enforcing the provisions thereof and providing sys-
tematic arrangements in respect thereto.

313. The County Commissioners of Dorchester County, in each and
every year after the passage of this Act,, shall pay to the Commissioners of
Hurlock fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500.00), to be used and applied by
said Commissioners of Hurlock in repairing and maintenance of the
streets of said town of Hurlock; provided, that all payments heretofore
made by the County Commissioners of Dorchester County to the Commis-
sioners of Hurlock for the corporate purposes of said town shall be and
the same are hereby ratified and confirmed.*

314. In each and every year the annual levy shall be made between
the first and fifteenth days of June.

315. In each year, at least twenty days before the general levy is
made, the Commissioners of Hurlock shall sit on three successive days, to
correct assessments. They shall give notice of said sittings by advertise-
