2278 ARTICLE 10.

All plank, rail, log and barbed wire fences shall be of the heights above
prescribed, the height in every case to be computed from the ground or
bank, if any embankment, upou which said fence is or may be placed.*

292. All fields and other grounds kept for enclosures in Meekin's
Neck, or that part of Hooper's Island or No. 6 Election District, lying
to the north of Fishing Creek, shall be considered sufficiently and legally
fenced in compliance with Section 290 of this Article, which shall be
enclosed with a combination woven wire and barbed wire fence, which
shall be tightly stretched and securely attached to good and sufficient posts
firmly planted in the ground not more than ten feet apart and the top
strand of which shall be not less than forty-four inches from the ground.
All said combination woven wire and barbed wire fences shall be con-
structed of those makes of woven wire fencing usually used in said locality,
and the bottom strand of which shall not be placed higher than two inches
from the ground; provided that barbed wire be tightly stretched above
the said woven wire fencing and securely attached to the posts, as fol-
lows : Above woven wire fencing thirty-two inches or more high shall be
stretched and securely fastened two or more strands of barbed wire, the
first or bottom strand of which shall riot leave a space of more than four
inches between itself and the top of the woven wire fencing; the second
strand thereof shall not leave a space of more than eight inches betwen
itself and the first strand of barbed wire; and above woven wire fencing
not less than twenty-six nor more than thirty-five inches shall be stretched
and securely fastened not less than three strands of barbed wire, the first
or bottom of which shall not leave a space of more than four inches be-
tween itself and the top of the wover wire fencing, the second strand of
which shall not leave a space of more than eight inches between itself
and the first strand thereof, and the third strand of which, shall not leave
a space of more than ten inches between itself and the second strand
thereof.

293. All farms, forests, and other lands, in the Third Election or
Vienna District, and in the First Election or Fork District shall be
fenced with post and rail, log or worm fences, well staked and ridered,
and made of good and substantial materials; the said worm and log fences
shall be at least four feet high from the ground to the upper rail or log,
and the space between the said rails or logs for eighteen inches from the
ground shall not exceed four inches, and for the balance of the fence
shall not exceed six inches; the planks and all post and rail fences shall
not be less than three feet and eight inches high, and the first plank or
rail thereof shall be not more than four inches from the ground; the
space between the second plank or rail shall not exceed five inches, and
there shall not be a space between any plank or rail exceeding eight inches;
