2212 ARTICLE 10.

for license; provided, that except in the case of proprietors or managers
of theatres who provide horses for performances, and also except circuses,
not more than ten dollars shall be charged for any license, authorized
hereunder. The proprietors or managers of theatres may take out a
license authorizing them to hold as many performances in a year as they
please, in one and the same building, and not more than twenty-five dol-
lars shall be charged for any such yearly license; provided, that no
performance, exhibition or amusement shall be allowed in any theatre on
Sunday.

(24) The Commissioners of Cambridge shall have power and authority
to require the owners, managers, proprietors, lessees of every circus or
traveling show, before any parade or exhibition within the limits of Elec-
tion District No. 7, or Cambridge Election District of Dorchester County,
to take out a license or permit, for which license or permit the said owner,
proprietor, manager or lessee of such circus or traveling show shall pay
such sum as the Commissioners of Cambridge may fix by ordinance, pro-
vided that in no case shall such sum be less than fifty dollars. All moneys
so paid shall be used by the said Commissioners for the corporate use of
said town. For the enforcement of any ordinance imposing a license fee,
of any kind or description, the Commissioners may, in their discretion,
either proceed to collect the license fee by a civil suit, or they may proceed
by a criminal action to enforce the fine; for the violation of the ordinance
providing for such license fee and fines.

93. Every applicant to the Commissioners for a permit, as required
by law, to sell cider, shall, on receiving the same, pay to the town clerk
and treasurer the sum of forty dollars, and no permit shall be granted
until said sum is paid; provided, that this payment shall not exempt such
applicants from paying for the traders' license, or for the cider license
to be obtained from the Clerk of the Circuit Court, as already required
by law.

BOARD OF HEALTH.

1900, ch. 339, sec. 77.

94. The Commissioners shall b'e and constitute the local Board of
Health for the town, and they shall be authorized to form and appoint
a Sub-board of Health, consisting of five members, to assist them in the
discharge of their duties. One of the sub-board, at least, shall be a regu-
lar practicing physician, and a resident of Cambridge. The Commis-
sioners may provide by ordinance such measures as will enable the board
and sub-board of health to safeguard the health of the town.

ENCOURAGEMENT OF MANUFACTORIES.

95. To encourage manufactories in said town, the Commissioners are
authorized to exempt the plant used in manufacturing in such manufac-
