2204 ARTICLE 10.

or other liens on the real or leasehold property sold, shall be entitled to
be made parties thereto, and notice shall be given to them by subpoenas
or order of publication, as in other equity cases, and the case shall in due
time be heard, unless the taxes, interest, costs and expenses of the entire
case are paid within a time named by the court, the sale shall be con-
firmed and shall pass absolute title in fee to the purchaser, his heirs or
assigns, provided, the balance of the purchase money shall be paid into
court within ten days after the time allowed to the persons interested in
the property to pay the taxes, interest, costs and expenses have expired.
As soon as the balance of the purchase money is paid into court, the court
shall order the clerk, treasurer and collector to convey the property in fee
simple to the purchaser, his heirs or assigns, absolutely, and all right,
title and interest of all the parties shall pass to the grantee in said deed.
No sale shall be set aside, unless the taxes and interest thereon shall be
paid.

REPAIRING STREETS.

1900, ch. 339, sec. 73. 1902, ch. 521, sec. 73. 1910, ch. 81, sec. 73 (p. 781).

90. The year for ordering and repairing the streets, lanes, alleys and
thoroughfares of said town shall be reckoned from the first day of May,
inclusive, in one year, to the first day of Hay, inclusive, in the next year.
Every able-bodied male person between the age of twenty-one and fifty
years who has resided in said town for four months shall be bound to
work on said streets, lanes, alleys and thoroughfares for one day in every
year, as the year is herein defined. And if any person who is liable to
render service fails to attend, on notice from the chief bailiff, or sub-
bailiff, or who appears and fails or refuses to work and render service
as by the person or persons supervising1 the work he is required and in-
structed, shall be. guilty of a misdemeanor, and on conviction thereof,
before a justice of the peace, or in tie Circuit Court for Dorchester
County, such serson shall be fined one dollar and shall be adjudged to
pay the costs and to stand committed to jail until fine and costs are paid,
and he shall be bound to render proper service. Any person who pays
to the chief bailiff the sum of one dollar in lieu of rendering personal
service on the streets, lanes and thoroughfares of Cambridge shall receive
a receipt therefor from said chief bailiff exempting him from work and
service on the street for the term of one year, as the year is hereinbefore
defined, the Commissioners of Cambridge shall have full power and author-
ity to pass one or more ordinances for executing, carrying out and enforc-
ing the provisions thereof and providing systematic arrangements in re-
spect thereto.
