2118 ARTICLE 9.

1012, ch. 770. sec. 109.

182. In event of the sale of any real estate under the provisions of the
preceding section the President of the Town Commissioners of La Plata
shall execute and deliver a deed to the same to the purchaser, and the
deed shall convey to the purchaser the property therein described, and
shall be presumptive evidence that all requirements of law have been com-
plied with in making such sale and deed.

1932, ch. 770, sec. 110.

183. The bailiff shall make all collections required of him and shall pay
the same, as well as all other money received by him for the Town Com-
missioners, promptly to the clerk, who shall hold all such collections and
money subject to the order of said Town Commissioners.

1912, ch. 770, sec. 111.

184. The bailiff shall be entitled to and shall receive the same fees for
making distress or levy for taxes as are allowed county collectors, and for
making arrests or serving process for violations of any law or any ordi-
nance of the Town Commissioners, he shall receive the same fees as are -
allowed constables for similar services; and should the bailiff wilfully
fail to discharge any of the duties of his office he may, in addition to the
remedy on his bond, be fined by the Town Commissioners, in their dis-
cretion, not exceeding ten dollars for any one offense, for the payment of
which fine his bond shall be liable and responsible.

1912. ch. 770, sec. 112

185. The President shall preside at all meetings of the Town Commis-
sioners, and he shall have all the power of a justice of the peace for the
collecting and recovering of fines and penalties and the committing of
offenders for violations of law within the corporate limits of said town,
or of any ordinance duly passed and enacted by said Town Commission-
ers, and an appeal from h:s decision and judgment in any case may be
taken to the Circuit Court for Charles County, which shall hear and deter-
mine the matter as upon appeals from justices of peace; provided, the
party aggrieved by such decision and judgment give bond, with sureties
approved by the President, in double the amount of the judgment and
costs against him.

1912, ch. 770, sec. 113.

186. The justices of peace for Charles County residing for the time in
the Town of La Plata are hereby declared to be conservators of the peace
of the town, and it shall be their duty to order the arrest of any person
breaking the peace of the town or disturbing the quiet and order thereof
or violating any of the ordinances made and passed by the Town Com-
missioners for securing the safety of the property or person of the inhabi-
tants of the town; and upon complaint being made under oath before any
such justice of peace of the violation of any ordinance of the Town of
