1950 ARTICLE 8.

the peace of the town, in the discretion of such justice, who is authorized
to commit to said lockup, for such number of days as in his judgment
may be right and proper, the party so convicted by him; or if the pun-
ishment be a fine, may commit said party until said fine shall be paid;
provided, however, such person so committed shall have the right to appeal
from such judgment to the Circuit Court for Cecil County by giving bond
for his appearance therein, with such surety as the justice may approve.

109. It shall be the duty of the bailiff or constable of the town, as the
case may be, to arrest any person for riotous or disorderly conduct, or
the violation of any of the ordinances of the town, and forthwith take
him, her or them before any justice of the peace of the town and present
to said justice the charge against the person so arrested, and the justice
shall forthwith proceed to try the right and justice of the charge, and if
said party shall be found guilty, shall commit such party to the custody
of the officer., who shall place him or her in confinement in the lockup of
the town until discharged by law.

FIRE COMPANY.

1916, ch. 101, sec. 1.

110. The President and Commissioners of Chesapeake City in making-
up the tax levy each year, shall include three cents on each one hundred
dollars of the assessable property of Chesapeake City in said levy for the
maintenance and equipment of Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 of Chesa-
peake City, Incorporated; said levy of three cents on each one hundred
dollars to be in addition to the levy now authorized in the Charter of said
town.*

111. If the voters of Chesapeake City voting on the question shall by a
majority vote at the election aforesaid, declare in favor of the special levy
as provided in this Act, then the Treasurer of the Town of Chesapeake
City shall pay over to the treasurer of the said Fire Company the amount
of money arising from the levy of three cents on each one hundred dol-
lars of assessable property of Chesapeake City on or before the second
Monday in May in each and every year.*

CIRCUIT COURT.

112. There shall be four terms of the Circuit Court for Cecil County
in each year, commencing respectively on the second Monday in Decem-
ber, the first Monday in March, the third Monday in June, and the third
Monday in September.

*The special levy was ratified by the voters as provided by sec. 2 of ch. 101, 1916
Sec. 4 of said Act repealed all laws inconsistent therewith.
