1708 ARTICLE 6.

TEMPLEVILLE.

P. L. L., 1888, Art. 6, sec. 226. 1865, ch. 86.

562. The citizens of the Town of Templeville, in Caroline and Queen
Anne's Counties, are created a. body corporate, by the name of the "Com-
missioners of Templeville," with all the privileges of a body corporate,
and a. common seal and perpetual succession, and shall be capable in law
to sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, in any court of law or equity,
and to make all by-laws necessary for the purposes herein mentioned.

563. The citizens of Templeville shall hold an election on the second
Wednesday in August, or as soon thereafter as may be convenient, in each
and every year, for seven commissioner's, who shall have the management
of the town, and shall appoint a, bailiff and prescribe his duties; the said
bailiff so appointed shall keep or cause to be kept in order, the roads lead-
ing to and from the said town of Templeville, for one mile; and the said
commissioners shall describe the boundaries of said town, fix the compensa-
tion of the bailiff, cause to be assessed and levy and collect a tax on all
the taxable property within the limits of said corporation, for the pur-
poses of carrying into effect the preceding section and the improvement
of the said town.

564. All persons entitled to vote for Delegates to the General Assem-
bly of Maryland shall be entitled to vote for commissioners of said town
of Templeville.

565. A majority of the Commissioners shall constitute a quorum to
transact business, and in case of a vacancy in the Board of Commissioners
during the year, the remaining commissioners shall have power to fill the
vacancy until the regular election for Town Commissioners.

566. There shall be allowed to each witness attending the Circuit
Court or Orphans' Court for Caroline County, the sum of one dollar for
each day such witness shall attend for the discharge of his duties, and five
cents for every mile that his place of residence is distant from Denton,
such mileage to be computed for each day's attendance; but no mileage
shall be allowed any witness within three miles of Denton.
