170 ARTICLE 1.

Collector shall be elected by a majority vote of the Mayor and Council.
The Bailiff shall, by virtue of his office, be one member of the Board of
Health; and he shall take the same oath as the Mayor and Council before
entering upon his duties, and shall give bond to be approved by the Mayor
and Council for the faithful performance of the duties of his office, and
he shall collect all fines which may be imposed for the violation of any
of the city ordinances and shall account therefor monthly to the Clerk
of the said city. The Council shall at its first meeting in each term elect
one of its members to serve upon the Board of Health during the year
in which elected until his successor has been elected by the Council. The
Secretary of the Board of Health shall be a physician and shall reside with-
in the limits of the corporation of Midland, and when elected shall con-
stitute the third member of the Board of Health. All the officers elected
by the Council shall hold office, respectively, for one year from the first
Monday in June in the year for which they have been elected and until
their successor shall have been elected and qualified. Any officer, whether
elected by the people or appointed by the Council, or by the Mayor with
the consent of the Council, may be removed at any time by a majority
vote of the members of said Council for misconduct, neglect of duty or
inability to perform the duties of his office.

465. The corporate and taxable limits of said town shall be as follows:.
Commencing at a locust post on the southeast corner of the Midland Park
Association grounds on the left bank of George's Creek and running north
thirty-seven degrees, west eight hundred and twenty-five feet to the corner
of Midland Park Association fence; thence north eighty-five degrees, east
nineteen hundred feet to a red oak tree on George Sharp's lot; thence
north fifty degrees, east four hundred feet to a locust gate post situated
near Robert Izsett's house, on the road to Dan's Rock; thence north forty-
two degrees, west a distance of one thousand and seventy feet to a pine
tree near Dr. A. G. Smith's residence, and the George's Creek and Cum-
berland Railroad; thence north fifty degrees west a distance of eight hun-
dred and fifty feet to a white oak tree standing near th'e convent; thence
due west five hundred and fifty feet to a pine tree near Squirrel Neck
Run; thence south twenty-nine degrees, west five hundred feet to a locust
post on southeast bank of George's Creek, and on the near corner of Harry
Taylor's lot; thence along the left bank of George's Creek to the place of
beginning, as shown by survey and plat filed in the office of the Clerk of
the Circuit Court for Allegany County on the 18th day of April, 1903,
and recorded in Liber No. 92, folio 492, etc., of the land records of Alle-
gany County, which said map or copy thereof properly certified by said
clerk, under the seal of his office, shall be evidence of the boundaries of
said town.
