1929, ch. 162'.

274. There is hereby created a Road Commission for Calvert County
to consist of three members, one to be selected from each of the three
Election Districts of said county. The present Commissioners created
by this Act shall be William J. Wilson from the First District, A. B.
Duke from the Second District and Charles H. Birckhead from the Third
District, who shall serve until the first Monday in April, 1931, after which
time their successors shall be appointed by the County Commissioners of
Calvert County for a term of four years and until their successors shall
be appointed and qualified. Each of said Commissioners shall receive a
salary of two hundred dollars ($200.00) per year, payable quarterly, the
said salaries to be paid by the County Commissioners of Calvert County.
In case of any vacancy occurring in said Commission, the County Com-
missioners shall appoint some one from the same Election District to
fill out the unexpired term of said Commissioners, so that there shall
always be one Commissioner from each Election District. The County
Commissioners of said county shall levy the road taxes in said county as
provided by law, but the road taxes thus levied and collected shall be
expended in the Election District in which collected.

The Road Commissioner for each district shall have full power and
authority to determine the public roads; in his district to be repaired and
to supervise such repairs. Payments for work and material in repairing
the public roads in the several Election Districts shall only be made upon
the approval of the Commissioner of the District in which such material
was furnished or work done.

ROAD BONDS.

1920, ch. 231, sec. 1.

275. Whenever the County Commissioners of Calvert County shall
deem it necessary to repair or build any road or roads in said county,
costing more than $5,000, they may issue bonds for such roads, building
or repairing, as hereinafter provided, but the aggregate amount of bonds,
issued under the provisions hereof, shall not exceed the sum of $150,000
and when bonds to the amount of $150,000 shall have been issued here-
under, the authority given under this Act for the issuance of bonds shall
immediately cease.

1920i. ch. 231, sec. 2.

276. When the County Commissioners of Calvert County shall deem
it necessary to issue bonds, they are hereby authorized to borrow on the
faith and credit of said county the amount necessary and to issue coupon
bonds therefor, in denomination of not less than one hundred' and nor more

*The title of ch. 162, 1929, purports to repeal ch. 574, 1924, but there is no
reference to this in the Act itself. Ch. 162, 1929, being later Act and repugnant
to ch. 574, 1924, the latter is not codified.
