liquors on Sunday or on election day. Eighth, that he, she or they will
not knowingly sell or give or allow to be sold or given any liquors to
minors at any time, nor will he, she or they sell or give away intoxicating
liquors or allow the same to be sold or given away to an habitual drunkard
or any person of whom he has received notice from his parent or parents,
guardian, husband, wife, son, daughter, brother or sister, that such person
is of intemperate habits. Ninth, that he, she or they will not allow any
minor to drink, loiter or loaf or be employed in said house or on said
premises, except clerks, bell-boys, porters or boot-blacks bona fide em-
ployed as such about hotels. Tenth, that he, she or they will not permit
gambling or keep or permit to be kept a bawdy house in said house or on
said premises, or the gathering together in said house or on said premises
of women for lewd or immoral purposes. Eleventh, that he, she or they
will not furnish any room or rooms in their places of business or con-
nected therewith for women; provided, however, that this paragraph
shall not apply to the keepers of bona fide hotel. Twelfth, that said ap-
plicant or applicants and all persons interested or that may become in-
terested in said business has been or have been a resident or residents of
said Allegany County for more than one year prior to the filing of said
application, and (if a male) entitled to register, was entitled to vote at the
general election held in the month of November preceding the filing of
said application. Thirteenth, the names of not less than two reputable
freeholders of Allegany County, or of a bonding or surety company, au-
thorized to do business in the State of Maryland, who will be his, her
or their sureties or surety on the bond that is required by this Act and
statement (if personal security be given), that each of said sureties is a
bona fide owner of real estate in said county worth over and above all
incumbrances the sum of one thousand dollars. Fourteenth, that no person
not a resident of Allegany County for the period of one year prior to
the time of filing said petition, or a non-resident of the State of Maryland,
shall have any interest in the business for which license hereunder is ap-
plied for; provided, however, that the conditions of this paragraph as
well as the aforegoing twelfth paragraph of this section shall not apply
to licenses to sell spirituous or fermented liquors granted to bona fide
hotel-keepers or tavern-keepers. Fifteenth, a statement of all persons
interested or to be interested in the business. Sixteenth, this petition
shall be verified by the affidavit of the applicant or applicants made before
a justice of the peace, a notary public or Clerk of the Circuit Court. If
any false statement be made in any part of said petition, the petitioner or
petitioners shall, upon indictment and conviction thereof, be deemed guilty
of perjury and such license revoked, and he, she or they be subject to
the penalties provided by law for that crime; provided, however, that
paragraphs 12 and 14 of this section shall not apply to licenses to sell
spirituous or fermented liquors by retailers, under Article 56, sections 55
to 66,t inclusive, of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland.
