222 ARTICLE 39.

wings thereto, below a straight line from Truman's Point Wharf across
said river to a point on the shore directly opposite said wharf; or to set,
place, construct or use any net more than 50 yards in length including the
leaders, hedges or wings thereto, above the said straight line from Tru-
man's Point Wharf; or to set any nets at a greater distance across the
waters of the Patuxent River from low water mark on either side, or to
use nets of greater length than the lengths permitted in the waters men-
tioned, provided that the above shall not apply to floating gill nets or
seines.

It shall be unlawful to vise or haul any seine or gill net in any creek,
cove or tributary of the Patuxent River at any time when the mouth of
the creek or tributary is less than 200 feet wide.

49. Severn River. Fishing with nets of any description, or any other
contrivance except with rod, hook and line is prohibited in the waters of the
Severn River and in the waters of any creek, cove, tributary or inlet there-
of. A line drawn from the extreme projection of Greenberry Point into
the Chesapeake Bay to the extreme point of Horn Point, shall mark the
mouth of the Severn River for the purpose of this Article.

50. Choptank River. It shall be unlawful for any person to use stake
nets, fyke nets, patent twine weirs, or any other devices or contrivances, to
take or catch fish in the waters of the Great Choptank River having a hedg-
ing or any other extension longer than 800 yards in that part of the river
from its mouth to a line drawn from Benoni's Point to Castle Haven Point,
and having a hedging or any other extension longer than 400 yards in that
part of the river between the said line from Benoni's Point to Castle Haven.
Point and a line drawn from Kates Point to Drum Point, and having a
hedging or any other extension longer than 200 yards in that part of the
river above the said line from Kates Point to Drum Point, and that each,
net or weir shall not be closer to another than 400 yards; provided, how-
ever, that the meshes of all nets are in the bar not less than one and one-half
inches.

It shall be unlawful to haul seine of any description whatever in the
waters of the Choptank River from the 21st day of May to the 31st day of
July, both dates inclusive, each year.

51. No person shall catch or in any manner take or kill, sell, offer to
buy or sell or expose for sale, or have in possession any Bass, large or small
mouth, less than 10 inches; any Catfish less than 7 inches; any Perch,,
white or yellow, less than 7 inches; any Pike less than 14 inches; any Rock,
otherwise known as Striped Bass, less than 12 inches in length or weighing
more than 15 pounds; any Sturgeon weighing less than 20 pounds; any
