allowed pay for his time as above provided. When any judge or clerk does
riot perform all the services required by this article, then such board of
supervisors of elections shall audit his time and allow him compensation
only for the time during which he has actually served. Provided, that in
St. Mary's County judges and clerks of election shall be paid an additional
fifty cents each per hour for every hour of work done after the closing of
the polls on any election day, including work done on the day following
such election day. Provided that in Howard County, the Judges, whether
acting as or sitting as officers of registration and clerks of Elections, shall
be allowed Six dollars ($6. 00) per day; and the fractions of a day shall be
allowed for at the rate of Sixty Cents per hour.

138A. 1 The Board of Supervisors of Election of Wicomico County
shall have power whenever more than 600 persons are registered in any
one election precinct, or in any election, district which may not be divided
into election precincts, to provide, in their discretion, one or two, but not
more than three additional polling places in each such election precinct or
district, and whenever the Board of Supervisors of Elections of Wicomico
County shall designate an additional polling place or places in any election
precinct, they shall appoint judges and clerks of election therefor as in this
Article provided, who shall have all the powers, perform all the duties, be
. subject to all the responsibilities and be liable to all the penalties prescribed
in this Article for judges and clerks of election. Whenever in Wicomico
County an additional polling place or places are provided for any such
election precinct, or election district, it shall be the duty of the Board of
Supervisors of Election of Wicomico County to cause an additional set or
. sets of books to be prepared, containing the names of registered voters,
transcribed from the original books. Said sets of books shall contain the
names of voters with such division and classification of the first letters of
the surnames of voters, among the several sets of books, as shall in the dis-
cretion of the Board of Supervisors of Wicomico County most expeditiously
and evenly divide the total number of voters for such election precinct or
election district among the polling places provided therefor. One set of
books shall be used in each of the polling places designated as provided for
in this section. All the members of the Board of Supervisors of Elections
of Wicomico County shall sign their names to the books which contain the
names copied from the original books for such polling places, in the hands
of said Supervisors and shall duly certify that said sets of books, so copied,
contain all the names of the persons entitled to vote in such election pre-
cinct or district, such said certificate shall appear on the blank line next
following the last name in each letter of the alphabetical list of names in
the new books so transcribed, and such said certification shall be attested
by the Clerk of said Board of Supervisors. The law with regards to notice
