have the land condemned for the use and benefit of the United States, such
condemnation proceedings to be instituted and conducted in accordance with
sections 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 of this article; provided,
however, that the quantity of land condemned under the provisions of this
section shall not be subject to the limitation prescribed in section 16 of
this article.

21. The provisions of sections 17 and 18 of this article shall apply to
all property or lands purchased or acquired by the United States under
the provisions of sections 19 and 20 of this article.

22. The consent of the State of Maryland is hereby given the acquisi-
tion by the government of the United States of such land or right of way in
this State as may be required by it in the construction of a highway from
the city of Washington, District of Columbia, to Gettysburg, State of
Pennsylvania, as a memorial to Abraham Lincoln, and all deeds, convey-
ances or papers for such land shall be recorded as in other cases, among
the lands records of the county where it lies, and if such land can not be
acquired by purchase or gift, or for any other reason perfect title thereto
can not be had, it may be condemned in the manner as is in other cases
provided for, by article 96 of the Annotated Code of Public General Laws
of this State, the proceedings to be in the name of the United States, being
in conformity with the procedure in said article set forth.1

23. Jurisdiction is ceded to the United States over all such lands as
may be obtained by it for the aforesaid purpose; provided, however, that
concurrent jurisdiction with the United States over all lands obtained
under the provisions of the preceding section is hereby retained by the State
of Maryland so far as to crimes or misdemeanors committed thereon, and
that all process, both civil and criminal, of the State of Maryland, or any
municipal corporation thereof, may be executed upon the lands so obtained
or in the building thereon.

Public Buildings and Land.

24. The consent of the State of Maryland is given to the purchase by
the United States of America of a lot or lots of ground in Laurel, Prince
George's county, for the purpose of erecting a public building thereon.

1 The act of 1912, ch. 640, authorized Governor to cede to United States govern-
ment certain highways and any state road or highway in any county and to grant right
of condemnation as to highways and rights of way where no satisfactory road exists or an
existing road is desired to be widened or straightened and to condemn property, neces-
sary for purposes of a memorial highway to Abraham Lincoln, in any county of state.
