RELEASES AND RECEIPTS. 2549

An. Code, sec. 9. 1904, sec. 9. 1888, sec. 9. 1816, ch. 134, sec. 3. 1882, ch. 15.

9. A copy of such receipt, release or final discharge acknowledged and
recorded as directed in either of the preceding sections, duly attested under
the seal of the office in which the same is recorded, shall be admitted as
evidence to prove such receipt, release or final discharge.

10. The release or receipt of a woman over the age of eighteen years
to any person or persons, body corporate or body politic for any money
paid, property delivered or obligation satisfied shall be a good and valid
discharge of such person or persons, body corporate or body politic in the
same manner and to the same extent as releases or receipts of the same
character are now by law good and valid when executed and delivered by
persons of the full age of twenty-one years.
