ARTICLE 2A.

AGRICULTURE.1

1. State Board of Agriculture.
2. Rules and by-laws; officers and em-
ployees; offices.
3. Assent to purposes of grant by act of
congress.
4. Assent to grants of money.
5-6. Assent of State to purposes of grant
by Act of Congress, H. R. 7951;
Maryland Agricultural College to
receive money ; Secretary of State to.
send copy of "act to United States
authorities.

7. Powers and duties; rules and regula-
tions.
8. Reports to Legislature and Governor.
9. Assistance of sheriffs, constable, police-
men, etc.
10. State's attorneys to prosecute viola-
tions.
11. Agricultural extension work; assent to
Act of Congress.
12-14. Agricultural fair associations.

An. Code, sec. 1. 1908, ch 161. 1916, ch. 391, sec. 1.

1. A commission is hereby established which shall be known under the
name and style of the "State Board of Agriculture" to consist of nine
persons, citizens of the State of Maryland, who shall be appointed by the
Governor, with, the advice and consent of the Senate. The term of each of
the nine members shall be nine years and until his successor qualifies and
shall commence on the first Monday of June next ensuing his appointment;
except that of the members appointed by the Governor in the year 1916,
the Governor shall designate one to serve until the first Monday of June
1917, one to serve until the first Monday of June 1918, one to serve until
the first Monday of June 1919, one to serve until the first Monday of June
1920, one to serve until the first Monday of June 1921, one to serve until
the first Monday of June 1922, one to serve until the first Monday of June
1923, one to serve until the first Monday of June 1924, one to serve until
the first Monday of June 1925. The members of said Board shall not
receive compensation for their services but shall be paid their reasonable
necessary expenses while engaged in the discharge of their official duties,
and before entering upon such duties shall take the oath prescribed by the
Constitution. In case of any vacancy the Governor shall appoint a person
to fill the same, to serve until the expiration of the time for which the
